Kim K's Blog: Send Kourt, Khloe and Me to 'The Oscar's with Celebuzz
I love awards season!! The Oscars are probably my favorite awards ceremony of the season... so many superstars walking down the red carpet in dresses to die for!! My favorite look from recent years is the Versace gown Penelope Cruz wore to the 2007 ceremony. It was perfectly form fitting, such a gorgeous color that really set off her skin tone, her hair was elegant and perfectly swept back and she wore just the right amount of jewelry. Total perfection!
Kourt, Khloe and I are teaming up with Celebuzz to do a fabulous Oscars giveaway!! We each picked our favorite dresses and the Celebuzz team photoshopped our heads on to each red carpet photo to see how we would look! Haha! All you have to do to win a gift basket, full of everything you would need to get yourself Oscars red-carpet ready, is go to the Celebuzz contest page, look through our favorite Oscars outfits for inspiration, jump on Photoshop and create your own image of Khloe, Kourtney or myself at The Oscars. The Oscars have been around for over 50 years, so you have a lot of looks to choose from!! Then upload your masterpiece and we will go through the submissions to pick three winners! We'll also pick 25 winners for a ' Kardashians at The Oscars' gallery. The contest ends next Tuesday, March 8. Good luck, guys!

Smokey Eyes 101: Perfect Shadows For Smokey Eyes…
I don’t care what anyone says, a good smokey eye says glamour but a BAD one says so much more. Don’t go for the dark black or steel gray shadows you see on the runway and in the magazines. If you don’t know what you are doing (and in some cases, even if you do…) it most always comes out looking muddy, unprofessional and quite frankly like you got punched in the eye. We don’t want that!! Stick to shades that are in the browns, plums and even green families. They are easier to work with and will look more subtle as opposed to your eye-makeup being the first thing that people notice. You want them to notice your EYES and THEN your makeup.
Here are a few tips that I have picked up over the years:
ALWAYS use a primer (Urban Decay Primer Potion is my fave)
Choose a shadow that compliments your eye shade
Use CLEAN brushes. If your brushes are NOT clean it can contribute to the muddy look I spoke of above
Another thing you want to make sure of is that you use a HIGHLY pigmented shadow. If you use a shadow that doesn’t have enough pigment, not only will the look not last, it will end up looking more natural than anything else. You can test the pigmentation of shadows in the store. Take a shadow applicator and sweep it across the product, test a bit on your hand if it shows up after ONE sweep, the pigmentation is high. If it takes several sweeps then move on.
Here are some of my favorites:
NARS Cordura – My “go to” shadow for a fool proof look. This with a little Smolder Pencil from MAC and smokey eye heaven.
Smashbox Smokebox A Dual purpose wet/dry palette. Contains three super intense, long wearing shadows (Beige, Soft Pewter and Intense Black) that can be worn dry for an added touch of shimmer or wet for extra drama.
Christian Dior Night Butterfly A lovely plum/violet palette from Fall 2009’s Jazz Club collection that gives you the option to change it up and try something different. Since you get Five shades you can really do two looks, a decidedly purple or a cool smokey look.
Bobbi Brown Nude Palette When I want something a little deeper, I reach for this palette. The Caviar shade is magical.
No matter what shadows you use, make sure you take your time, smokey eyes can look fantastic or horrific, make sure yours are on the fantastic side.
Stay Pretty!!

Spring 2010: Dior Lace Collection…
You can always count on Dior for drama and this collection is no exception. Dior’s latest for Spring 2010 is called The Lace Collection and there are by far some stand outs. The highlighting powder will be a hot item for sure but I am really excited about a few items in particular. Namely, the reformulation of Dior Addict Lip Color, the polish in Silver Pearl (I am totally into gray polish now) and a new product, Creme de Rose Lip Balm.
The Rundown:
Dior ‘Lace Face’ Highlighting Powder Straight from the dressing table of a 1920s coquette is Dior Lace Face Highlighting Powder, an ultrafeminine compact featuring a vintage Dior lace pattern inside and out. The sleek silver packaging holds a soft pink powder inside that adds a touch of shimmer on face and décolleté. ($55.00)
Dior ‘Dentelle’ Blush Embossed with a vintage Dior lace pattern, a pretty duo of warm rose and peach gives cheekbones a natural-looking flush.
Dior ‘Dentelle’ Eyeshadow Palette Embossed with a vintage Dior lace pattern, soft tones of pink, gray and plum create a coquettish wink of color. The ultra-smooth texture blends flawlessly and wears all day. ($58.00)
Coquette
Pearl Glow
Dior ‘Creme de Rose’ Lip Balm SPF 10 Tucked inside an elegant white case, Creme de Rose is a smoothing, plumping lip balm with a delicate rose scent. Essential oils and shea butter nourish and moisturize lips. Wonderful applied on its own or under any other lip color. In one universal petal-pink shade. ($25.00)
Dior Addict Lipcolor Is even better with a new weightless formula, ultra-high-impact color, a smooth, glide-on texture and a new look that’s pure Dior. Dior reinvents the architecture of lipstick. The Lip Neutralizer Complex ensures that lip color stays true on everyone! ($26)
Pink Neglige
Pink Embroidery
Dior ‘Addict’ Ultra-Gloss Reflect Lips go high-tech with Ultra-Gloss Reflect this season. The world’s most glamorous lip gloss gets even better, shimmering with multi-dimensional reflective pigments for mega-watt shine and color. Innovative ‘water-like’ formula goes on smooth and fast with a silky brush applicator that keeps you in perfect control. ($26.50)
Beige Veil
Pink Corset
Dior Vernis Nail Enamel ($21.00)
Pink Ballet
Silver Pearl

Get The Look: Kim Kardashian’s Vegas Birthday Look…
Okay who watched that episode of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” when they were in Vegas for Kim’s birthday? Kim looked amazing but it was completely overshadowed by her sister’s boyfriend and his ridiculous drunken antics (ughhh…). Well lucky for you, I have the breakdown of Kim Kardashian’s Vegas Birthday Look so you can create the look at home, Kim’s makeup artist the uber talented Mario Dedivanovic routinely creates glamourus looks for Ms. Kardashian all the time but this one in particular stood out to me because it was a softer smokey eye than you are used to seeing on her.
Skin – Sheer Glow Foundation by NARS all over the skin. Under the eyes and to highlight I used YSL’s Touch Eclat. To set everything use a touch of Translucent Loose Powder by Shiseido.
Eyebrows are softly filled in with MAC’s eyebrow pencil in Lingering.
Eyes – Urban Decay eyeshadow in Eldorado on eye lids and browbone. Smog eyeshadow also by Urban Decay on the crease of the eye and outter corners of the lids. Smolder Eye Kohl by MAC rimming the entire eye and on the inner rims. Use more liner towards the outter corners. Using a clean brush, blend along the lashlines, moving up and out. Apply more liner for intensity if needed. Finish the eyes with two coats of Lancome’s Hynose Drama Mascara on top and bottom lashes.
Cheeks – On the apples of the cheeks, use Passion blush by Josie Maran. Skin is bronzed with Josie Maran Bronzing Powder. Brush it along the hairline, jawline and hollows of cheeks. To highlight the cheek bones, use Trace Gold blush by MAC.
Lips are lined with MAC’s Cremestick Liner in Summerfruit followed by Lipgelee in Saplicious, also by MAC.
This is similar to teh smokey eye I was talking about last week, very wearable and easier to pull off than you think. Try this at home and tell me what you think!

Video – Kim Kardashian Revs Up NASCAR
Gentleman, start your engines! Well, that’s what she was supposed to say but Kim was nice and let someone else do it. But at least she got to say it to E! when talking about her cool pink car and being at the event in Las Vegas. She’s also asked if her and Reggie would ever star in their very own reality show. Find out the answer by watching the cute video.

Video – Kim at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Here’s a little video of Kim at Nascar at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway yesterday. There are some shots of her racing car and some still shots from when she did press. I hope to find better videos soon!
Kim Kardashian today just became a part of the history of motor-culture when she and beauty products manufacturer/retailer Sephora, sponsored the #36 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car driven by Mike Bliss.

Beauty Must-Have: Taupe Nail Polish
by Jean
BESTBUYS SIDENOTE: If you’re looking for the bag pictured right, click here. The link isn’t working when you click the pic!
Not to beat a dead horse, I know I’ve said it before: nude/neutral and just soft tones in general are huge for spring 2010, and as sunnier days slowly inch closer (although you’d never know it considering the snow we’ve had in the Northeast lately!), start thinking about how the idea of…
nude nail polish sounds.
I can see how some might have their doubts, but… I’m into it, I’ve decided. Look at it this way: you’ve tried sparkly whites and barely-there pale pinks. Why not give something a bit more unexpected a chance?
Oddly enough, picking this (sometimes considered to be) “boring” shade as your nail color could be seen as quite… daring!
Gotta love the logic of fashion.
The best CheapChica option is probably OPI’s Over-the-Taupe shade (a little over $5.00)… unless you don’t mind shelling out $23.00 for Chanel’s not unsurprisingly gorgeous Particuliere.
Nail polish trends are so great… it’s never been cheaper to make a runway-inspired statement…
Lily Allen, Gwyneth and Kate Beckensale have already jumped on board, you could be next!

Blog Spotlight: Style Bard Shoes
by Abby
A girl can never have too many shoes…right? Shoes can make or break your outfit…they are the ultimate accessories to your wardrobe! If you are a shoe lover like me, you can never pass up a good shoe buy…and that’s where Style Bard Shoes comes in!
Style Bard Shoes is a blog dedicated solely to bringing you the best deals and steals of shoes on the web! What’s better than having all the great shoe discounts at your fingertips! No longer will you have to search and search for affordable prices again…just tune into Style Bard Shoes daily to get the current scoop on the best and biggest sales!
Don’t miss out on the advice from Style Bard herself in the interview below!
Why did you start Style Bard Shoes? Style Bard Shoes originated when I realized that my shoe posts were absolutely flooding my flagship blog, Style Bard (which now focuses on fashion and beauty). I needed to haul all of my shoe prose onto a new site, which ended up working out quite well! I’m now able to devote one post a day exclusively to shoe shopping, which delights me constantly.
Where do you go to find the best shoe deals? Honestly, I look for shoe deals where I already shop. I always sign up for newsletters and look for ways to have my favorite websites send sale information directly to my e-mail address. I love to find out where my girlfriends are shopping and get clued in to new shops and boutiques, but it’s the places I love to peruse (such as Piperlime and Shopbop) that are likely to get the most attention on my site!
What is the best shoe purchase you ever made? The ‘best’ shoe purchase I ever made can be interpreted two ways. I’ve always been thrilled about buying my first pair of Irregular Choice shoes on my family vacation to London, even though I didn’t really have the cash for it at the time. It was worth it to invest in these one-of-a-kind booties! But that wasn’t much of a deal–I paid full price, which is very rare for me. My favorite blue wedges which I wear all the time were actually only $5 at Payless and I’ve had them for nearly five years, so that is definitely a different kind of ‘best’!
What advice would you give to the “shoe lover”? Shoe lovers: show your devotion the right way by buying quality, unique shoes. Not just more shoes. I fall into the trap of buying in bulk and winding up with several pairs of similar black slingbacks at the same time; yet I don’t own a single pair of Louboutins (my number one shoe aspiration). If I consolidated all of those splurges into one single shoe, I’d have a much tighter collection of unbelievable styles rather than the many, many beloved-but-admittedly-not-the-best shoes. And of course always shop against the season to get the steepest and most unbelievable shoe steals!

Gianmarco Lorenzi Double Platform Sandal
This Gianmarco Lorenzi Double Platform Sandal is definitely not a fainting flower. It will stand out in a room full of beautiful shoes!
The color of this shoe definitely grabs your attention. It is a vibrant hue, and the eel skin gives it some nice texture. I also love Gianmarco Lorenzi’s signature double platform. It adds interest to a shoe that’s fairly simple otherwise. The stiletto looks 8 inches high in the pictures, but really it’s only 5.5 inches, and the double platform will help to neutralize some of that height.
These sandals will look gorgeous with so many things. They definitely deserve to be worn with a beautiful dress for a night out, but they’ll work equally well with skinny jeans. If you want to go edgy, pair them with leather pants or a sexy leather skirt!
