The Look: Confident

The Shoe: Paloma

As summer comes to a close, the nautical look has set sail and won’t be back ’til next spring. But those same styles can still anchor the beginnings of a fab fall wardrobe. Replace bright reds with moody neutrals and darker pastels — totally different, totally fall! Eliminate crisp white and navy from your summer attire and replace them with cream, black, and taupe. A nautically-inspired summer outfit can easily drift into fall by substituting a warm, honey brown shoe like the Paloma for a bright yellow one. Best of all, this shoe draws attention to what is sure to be fall’s sexiest accessory: the ankle.

The Look: Breezy

The Shoe: Belladonna

The trees might be prepping to shed their leaves, but don't be so quick to forget the fluttering palm fronds of your summer getaway. Let's be honest, there isn't much green to go around these days, so you might as well enjoy it while you can. The Shoe: emerald Belladonnas; not only do they evoke the breezy sway of summer foliage, but they perfectly complement a layered fall look. Try this: Pair summer-length shorts and skirts with more traditional fall pieces like blazers and fitted jackets on top.

Style Q&A

Question:
Kim - I have all kinds of shoes, but I don’t know what to wear with them. I buy shoes thinking I’ll know what to wear with them but I end up getting stuck. I don’t know how to wear my tan shoes or my turquoise pumps. Help!

Angie B.
— San Bernardino, CA
Answer:
We’ve all bought shoes hoping they’ll set the foundation for some groundbreaking outfit only to find ourselves stumped by our own closets. Believe me; you have a lot more options than you think. Tan shoes blend with skin tones, giving the illusion of long, slender legs. Paired with something easy like a bright mini dress, tan shoes will keep you looking svelte and lean through summer’s end. As the days get cooler, try pairing your turquoise pumps with light denim for the same lengthening effects. It doesn’t take a pro to recognize that sexy legs make any outfit spectacular.

KIM'S LUXE PALETTE

Handbag ~ Pick of the Day: White HOT Chanel

The heat wave is making its way across the US and everyone continuing to bring out their summer whites. A white hot Chanel summer is the most fashionable way to integrate white. From a white J12 Watch, to Limited Edition white nail polish, to the highly loved and respected Chanel 2.55 in white patent, Chanel is bringing you every white hot item your heart desires. A white 2.55 is a dream for me, but I am rocking a white Hermes Kelly Longue this summer.

D.S Pick of the Day: Elizabeth and James Gathered Peep-Toe d’Orsay

I must say I am fond of the shoe line Elizabeth and James. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have done a wonderful job of creating fun-funky shoes that stand out all on their own. I recently stumbled across the Gathered Peep-Toe d’Orsay in taupe, and quite literally wanted them then and there. This d’Orsay boasts a 4” covered heel and rouched-detailing. Refreshingly clean in design the rouche gives it enough design detail to just complete the shoe. Its slip-on nature looks absolutely comfortable for easy to wear. I have always had issues in the winters when wearing tights and trying to keep my heels from slipping. I don’t think that I am going to have that problem with this shoe at all. Its versatility allows myself, or any of you, to wear this shoe from day to night. It also comes in black suede, so I may just have to get both?!
