Inside Kim Kardashian’s Shoe Closet

Kim Kardashian has an impressive (and enviable) 3 closets full of fabulous shoes. She recently spoke to Footwear News about her many shoes, covering everything from her favorite pair and her most expensive pair, to her biggest mistake and her favorite brand. Read it all below and after the jump:

“I’m addicted,” said Kardashian, who is rarely spotted in footwear of the flat variety. “Unless I’m working out, I’m almost always in heels, and sometimes I find it uncomfortable to be in flats.”

Kardashian recently kicked up her stilettos to speak with Footwear News about her biggest shoe challenge, how she makes her gams look great on the red carpet and why she’ll never be caught sporting a menswear-inspired oxford. Organizational strategy: Kardashian has three closets — one for boots, one for heels and one for sneakers and flip-flops — to accommodate her growing collection.

Favorite brands: Christian Louboutin, Fendi, Manolo Blahnik, Mystique sandals, Nike, Reebok, Yves Saint Laurent and Shoe Dazzle brands, including styles from Michael Antonio, among others

Oldest pair: Manolo Blahnik leopard-print and diamond-studded heels. “I’ve never worn them because I was waiting all this time to find that perfect outfit. Now they are a little dated, but they are so fabulous I can’t get rid of them.”

Stand-out shoe: A [Shoe Dazzle] pink pump designed for breast cancer awareness last October. “It’s not like that baby-pink; it’s a good hot-pink, and it’s shocking.”

Biggest splurge: A pair of $2,500 Christian Louboutin lace and python booties. “They are to die for.”

Most memorable red-carpet footwear: Brian Atwood nude heels paired with a cream dress at the Hollywood Life Awards. “They are so sexy and chic and go with so much. I’m obsessed.”

Sexiest shoe to pair with swimwear: “This is my struggle in life. I don’t wear flats very often, and you just can’t wear heels to the beach. It’s too embarrassing.” Instead, Kardashian dresses up her bikini with chunky accessories or a colorful sarong.

The showstopper: Louis Vuittons bedazzled with black feathers and gold and burgundy beads. “I wore them to [sister] Khloe’s birthday party in Las Vegas with a simple black dress and made the whole outfit all about the shoes.”

Most comfortable pair: Black high-heeled, caged booties by Shoe Dazzle. “They’re really open and not super high.”

Biggest mistake: Patent leather green boots with a matching bag, or styles with “the Fendi and Gucci logos all over. It’s too flashy. My style has changed.”

Favorite era: The 1940s. “That old-school glam hair and retro makeup mixed with modern clothes is really glamorous.”

Best workout shoe: Reebok’s EasyTone. “I love it. You can tell something is going on and you’re getting a good workout.”

Best leg-lengthening shoe: Anything nude “gives the illusion your leg is longer than it is.”

Biggest wardrobe malfunction: In Monte Carlo after meeting Prince Albert II of Monaco. “I was at a festival, and my entire [shoe] strap broke off. I had to go back to the room and couldn’t attend the after-party. I was over it after that.”

Whose shoe closet would you like to raid? Jennifer Lopez’s. “She has that song ‘Louboutins,’ so I’m pretty sure [Christian Louboutin] has made her some really incredible custom stuff.”

Best day-to-night shoe: Rounded-toe heels. “It’s more casual, and it gives you a little more room in the toe area.”

Favorite shoe-shopping city: New York. “You can go from Barneys to Bergdorf, and when you’re from out of town, it’s fun to say, ‘Oh, I got these in New York.’”

Favorite shop: Bergdorf Goodman. “It’s shoe heaven.”

Next purchase: Nothing. “I spend way too much money on shoes. But if you tortured me, it would be these caged-in Christian Louboutin booties.”

Favorite men’s style: Lanvin. “They have some really great dressy sneakers.”

Where do you get your fashion sense? “My mom and grandmother. They’re always put together and have great style sense.”

Do you share shoes with your sisters? “I wish. We’re all different sizes, but we share everything else, so it’s kind of annoying we can’t share shoes.”

Current trend you wish would go away: The men’s dress shoe look for women. “They are so ugly. My stylist was wearing them, and I was like, ‘You cannot wear those and give people advice.’”

Footwear trend you’d like to see come back: The Manolo Blahnik/Timberland boots. “I had them in every color — lavender, red, blue — [and] would wear them now if people wouldn’t make fun of me.”

Hall of Shame: Martinez Valero “Zenith” vs. Manolo Blahnik “Something Blue”

Manolo Blahnik “Something Blue” Satin Pump $945 NeimanMarcus

Martinez Valero “Zenith” Pump $164 Zappos

When we first launched Hall of Shame, we had no idea the controversy and anger it would cause! For clarification, The Shoe Goddess does not believe that you have to be spend thousands of dollars to be fashionable. In fact, we often review shoes that are inexpensive. But what we can’t condone under any circumstances is stealing someone’s work. Whether it’s a scam where counterfeit items are sold (see Scam Alert) or a shoe that’s almost exactly the same as a designer original but sold under a legitimate brand, it’s not right.

When I spotted this knockoff, I was completely flabbergasted! I think Manolo Blahnik’s “Something Blue” satin pump is stunning! I always have, but because it’s from Sex and the City (the movie), it’s almost iconic, and it’s not a shoe I personally would want to own. But even worse would be owning a knockoff of it! Martinez Valero should be ashamed! This shoe is almost exactly the same, just much cheaper looking, especially the crystal broach! Ladies, avoid this shoe! You can find an inexpensive shoe without buying a knockoff!

Designer Shoe Pick of the Day: Manolo Blahnik Ankle-Cuff d’Orsay

Honestly, nothing much from Manolo Blahnik has caught my eye lately, but this Ankle-Cuff d’Orsay is undeniably hot!

These shoes are definitely elegant and sexy with an edge. I absolutely love the thick ruched ankle cuff. This shoe is also available in a brown leather, but I prefer the black.

These shoes will be perfect with an elegant little black dress.

D.S Pick of the Day: Manolo Blahnik Feather Trimmed Bootie

The Manolo Blahnik feather bootie-what a fun shoe for fall. First thoughts were most certainly Carrie from “Sex and The City”.

Although I love this shoe I am not sure as to how practical they actually are, and then I have to remind myself that most of my shoe collection isn’t practical. What’s fun about these shoes is that they are alive! They are vivacious, and make you want to walk around all day. They certainly have a “look at me” scream-like quality about them. Mr. Blahnik has a way of creating shoes that are fantastical yet comfortable. Not only are these heeled booties a fairytale shoe, Candy Pratts Price has chosen them for her accessories report! While I am totally loving feathers for fall I am going to have to really think about this purchase carefully.

D.S Pick of the Day: Manolo Blahnik Suede Cut-out Pump

It is rather exciting when a designer such as Manolo Blahnik takes historical periods, and transforms the inspiration into a chic modern shoe. This suede cutout pump is absolutely fun. I can’t get enough! It regal feeling reminds me of something Napoleon may have worn. The black sued cutout against the stark gold creates contrasting design elements that make the shoe pop! The detail in the heel really gives the shoe an extra edge. Wide at the bottom it is somewhat of an hourglass shape. It would be a crazy shoe to have in my collection, but unfortunately I think it is a bit impractical.

D.S Pick of the Day: Manolo Blahnik Metallic Patchwork d’Orsay

When it comes to shoes, I really don’t think anyone can beat Manolo Blahnik for sophisticated, timeless elegance. Carrie Bradshaw really helped launch the brand to what it is today, and I definitely understand why. When I saw these patchwork d’orsays, I immediately flipped my computer to Florence and said, “I have to have these!” She agreed and wanted a pair too!

These pumps are such a fabulous marriage of ancient-looking metallic tiles with a modern flair. I love mixed metals as a trend, but what I really love about these heels is that they are all different tones of gold mixed together. The patchwork looks like tiles, and this shoe almost reminds me of a golden path that you would see in ancient temples. The colors in this pump are so beautiful, and this shoe looks like a piece of history.

Paired with a little gold dress, you are set to go, and really any gold will do. I think I will wear them with a brown dress and some multi-colored gold bangles; maybe a hippie headband as well. Either way, these shoes are phenomenal—true works of art!

Pick of the Week: Manolo Blahnik Zip Back Sandal

These sandals are extremely versatile, and I really mean that! For dressier occasions, they’ll look fab with simple dresses, business attire (think fitted suits or sexy pencil skirts) and skinny pants or jeans for going out. On the other hand, pair them with casual skinny jeans and a graphic tee for an edgier look.

Pick of the Week: Manolo Blahnik Suede Pump

I do love the range of colors available: teal, fuchsia, bright yellow, red and black for the spring/summer. I wouldn’t wear these pumps with everything, but I think they’d look great if you’re trying for an 80s vibe or like I said with dark denim and a simple top..

Pick of the Week: Manolo Blahnik Hangisi Pump

I know this is the identical pump that Carrie Bradshaw wore in Sex and the City, the blue was gorgeous and it just looks so sophisticated and elegant.

Anyway, this is a great shoe for the holiday season. The crystal embellishment adds that little extra without being gaudy. And these shoes will definitely stand the test of time. They are a classic that you can wear with any outfit from dressy casual to formal.
