Haute Holiday Look: Winter Green Dresses!

TREND: Winter green dresses

WHO'S WEARING IT: Kate Beckinsale (Andrew GN), Serena Williams (Gucci) and Lauren Conrad (Alice + Olivia)

HOW TO WEAR IT: It's time to swap out that boring black cocktail dress for something with a little more pizzazz. How about a winter green dress? It's both festive and sophisticated. Just avoid wearing red lipstick—a crimson lip plus an emerald dress equals a Christmas-colored tragedy! Instead, opt for a smoky eye and a chic nude lip. Black patent accessories will complete the elegant holiday look.

Handbag ~ Pick of the Day: Gucci Jackie Raffia Shoulder Bag

I know that fashion is an industry that is constantly looking six months ahead, but I’d like to enjoy my cold weather and hot cocoa and bags made of thick leather for at least a little while before I have to think about picking out anything made of straw. I will say, though, that this is probably as luxe and subtle as a straw bag can get (but it’s also priced much higher than I’d pay for raffia). Buy through Saks for $2995.

Handbag ~ Pick of the Day: Gucci Jungle Large Tote

Unlike most of their exotic bags, this one seems a bit rigid to me. It’s too flat, too shiny, and not nearly as texture-rich as I would hope (and expect for what they’re charging). The finish of the skin almost looks like it might be embossed rather than the real deal, and why wants a dubiously faux python tote when the price tag is so high? It’s a cute, functional bag, but we all know that Gucci can do better with an exotic. Buy through Saks for $3800.

Designer Shoe of the Day: Gucci Division Platform Pump

These Gucci Division Platform Pumps are perfect for the girl that lives in black attire, and already has her basic black shoes yet wants something a bit updated. The platform on these shoes ensures comfort, and these are definitely anything but your basic black pump.

Looking closely, there is black patent, but it is trimmed with a dark iridescent patent leather that is truly gorgeous and will definitely put some shine in each step that you take. The color idea is continued in the heel with is multi-tonal, and totally sexy. This is the shoe for a fierce woman that definitely wants to be taken seriously. Putting on these shoes, I feel like I could instantly become the Superheiress of my dreams.

I will pair these hotties with a black pencil skirt and a blouse for day, and spice things up with a metallic hued dress for night, with some hot black baubles to complete the look. One thing is for sure, these shoes mean business.

Handbag ~ Pick of the Day: Gucci Galaxy Slouchy Metallic Leather Hobo

Gucci Galaxy Slouchy Metallic Leather Hobo reinvents the wheel, but the shape is wearable and the lustrous blue metallic leather brings an edgy touch.

I’m digging the slouchy and comfortable shape of the bag, which has an ample shoulder drop of 19″. The single chain link shoulder strap adds the perfect spunk to the already attention-getting blue metallic leather. This is an overall simple bag, but an option rather than going for simple black leather and getting a slight blue sheen which will still work with many outfits. Dimensions are 10.4″W X 14.2″H X 5″D. Buy through Saks for $1050.

Handbag ~ Pick of the Day: Gucci Galaxy Python Hobo

Every brand uses exotics in a different way. Nancy Gonzalez crocodile looks different than Balenciaga crocodile. Chloe python looks different than Carlos Falchi python. And Gucci python is my favorite of all. Somehow, they manage to find skins that look somehow fuller and more touchable than some of their peers, and it’s always clear that their bags did indeed come from a living reptile. And I feel like it’s at least a bit more respectful to the animal to make a bag that really highlights the natural beauty of the skins that are used.

And Gucci has maintained their history of beautiful python bags with the Gucci Galazy Python Hobo. Sometimes natural patterns can be hidden when they’re done in black, but the finish here has a bit of a shine to it, so it reflects enough light that the scale differentiation is easy to see. Some brands treat their bags in such a way that the python scales lay perfectly flat, which has clearly not been done here. I’m sure that that sort of treatment makes bags for durable, but it also makes it feel less luxurious to me, so I’d rather that part was left out, even if it means the bag won’t last quite as long. I’d rather have it be as beautiful as possible for as long as that look will hold up. Buy through Saks for $3500.

Handbag ~ Pick of the Day: Gucci Crest Boule Fabric Tote

The thick leather trim and handles give the bag a heft and structure that few canvas totes have, and it makes it look a lot more purposeful and expensive-looking than other bags of this variety. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $1990.

D.H Pick of the Day: Gucci Small Hysteria Bag

The leather is slightly gathered at the top but the overall shape is slouchy. The double handles feature the metal Gucci crest detailing, which does stand out but is alluring in its own right. There is a detachable shoulder strap, but when worn the top of the bag folds over and gives a more casual look. The inside features a zip, cell phone, and PDA pocket, all necessities for 2008. If the colorful option, which will be perfect for fall and winter, is not working for you, there is also black available. Buy through Saks for $1650.

Designer Handbag: Pick of the Week: Gucci Jockey Python Bag

The Gucci Jockey Python Bag meets all of my handbag needs; exotic skin, easy-to-wear shape, casual style. The single strap is non-adjustable, but it fits perfectly over your shoulder without riding up too high or snug. On the inside there are zip and cell phone pockets and the dimensions are large, 18¼”W X 14½”H X 4½”D. Now what I really love is that I can see this being the black bag for so many of us. Working for day, transitioning to night, lasting for seasons. It has the exotic appeal, the chic style, and the no-hassle shape. Just lovely. Buy through Saks for $3,295.

Designer Handbag: Pick of the Week: Gucci Crystal Evening Bag

Lately every single Gucci bag has been heinous, there is finally a little accessory I do not have to click the X out button really quick on. Purple or black patent leather pulled tight make the Gucci Crystal Evening Bag a stunning accessory. I absolutely love the purple patent leather. The color reminds me of fresh juicy grapes right off the vine. There is a Gucci script detail in the bottom left coroner which is the perfect touch. Another surprising factor is this evening bag is affordable in the world of designer handbags. $695.

Designer Handbag of the Week: Gucci Belt Bag

This week I found it hard to find a new IT bag because there are so many but the Gucci Belt Bag is a classic IT bag. I think this bag should be called Madonna because its re-invented itself so much. I love just walking around not having to hold anything. It is such a popular bag that you have to have one. It can even be worn across your back like a messenger. I find it useful for everyday use and think it’s a steal at $395 for the smaller version. The Gucci belt bag has Front pocket with Velcro flap closure, front pocket with zip closure, rear zip pocket and adjustable waist or shoulder strap. The smaller version measures 9.5’’ x 5.1’’ and the largest version measures 11.5’’ x 7’’. This bag comes in a fabulous range of colors.

Runway to Red Carpet: Gucci

Jessica Alba wore this dual coloured Gucci Spring 2008 one-shouldered gown to the G'Day USA Australia Day Black Tie Gala.

Runway to Red Carpet: Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Garner, Marta Torne

Frida Giannini's Gucci Spring 2008 collection was the most worn on the red carpet.
Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Garner and Spanish actress Marta Torne all wore Frida's distinctive sunflower yellow, black and white Spring 2008 designs. I feel we will see more stars wearing this collection, as there as so many great pieces to choose from. Blake Lively also wore a gorgeous dress from the Gucci Fall 2007 collection.
