Mario Dedivanovic's Blog: Giving Pretty

I love Fashion Week… Its fast-paced, inspiring and glamourous shows motivate me to paint pretty. Another thing I love just as much is giving back. This year, while fashion models strutted the cat-walk looking flawless, I dedicated my personal time to mentoring young women with the help of my friend and client, singer Adrienne Bailon at the Lower East Side Girls Club local charity.

I spent months researching charities that promote self-confidence and self esteem for young women. I came across The Lower East Side Girls Club in NYC and thought they were a perfect match. They prepare the girls for real life experiences such as college interviews and internships. With the generous sponsorship from NYC NEW YORK CITY COLOR, JOSIE MARAN, GIELLA CUSTOM BLEND COSMETICS and SALLY HANSEN, we gifted these amazing girls with great tools to promote natural beauty from the inside out.
Adrienne Bailon, native lower east side girl herself, was so great as she answered questions and shared advice and life experiences with the girls. She also modeled for me as I gave a full makeup lesson, revealed tricks of the trade and exposed the “real” beauty in each of them. I focused on adding bits of color to enhance and brighten the face rather then cover or conceal. Thanks again to Adrienne, NYC New York City Color, Josie Maran, Sally Hansen and Giella for helping put smiles on their young faces. A special thanks to The Lower East Side Girls Club for putting a big smile on my face and hopefully all of yours.

PS. If you know of any local charities such as TLESGC, please let me know as Id love to continue “Giving Pretty.”

Xo – Mario

Give Pretty: Makeup Artist Mario Dedivanovic & Singer Adrienne Bailon Give Back…

I love it when I hear stories that inspire young people. Celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic (who is famous for the looks he does on Kim Kardashian and countless others) teamed up with singer Adrienne Bailon to give back to the community. Mentoring girls at this age is critically important to foster their self esteem. Especially when there are so many skewed ideas of what beauty is and should be. Mario wanted to find a charity where he could do just that.

“I wanted to give back to charity by teaching girls how to do makeup and provide them with some great products. After months of looking for the perfect local charity, I found the Lower East Side Girls Club- a charity for young girls age 13-18. They promote self confidence and prepare the girls who come from humble beginnings for college, the real world and careers. My friend and client Adrienne Bailon agreed to be the model for the girls.”

He continued, “Adrienne is a native New Yorker who is from the Lower East Side so it was wonderful to see what a huge role model and inspiration to the girls she was . They asked questions as I gave a full makeup lesson…I taught them little simple tricks, not focused on covering up anything but bringing out their natural beauty instead.”

Makeup sponsors were NYC New York City Color, Josie Maran, Giella Custom Blend Cosmetics and Sally Hansen. Who all graciously provided makeup and product gift bags to give to girls at the end.

Bravo Mario…

Stay Pretty!!

Adrienne Bailon's Something-Blue Look

It must be hard being a bride when you have such stylish friends! While Khloé Kardashian radiated bridal bliss in Vera Wang, we can't help but talk about how stunning Adrienne Bailon looked in a flowing cobalt blue gown at her pal's wedding. The pleated sweetheart neckline enhanced Adrienne's bust while the sash made her waist look smaller than Jessica Rabbit's! A relaxed updo, smoky eye and nude lip completed the elegant look.

Mario Dedivanovic's Blog: Get the Face! Adrienne Bailon - Steppin’ Out.

Here it is girls! I’ve gotten so many “get the face” requests for this look I gave Adrienne Bailon. This shoot was for the cover of “Steppin’ Out” magazine and we had so much fun working that day. As you all know, Adrienne’s highly anticipated solo album and single, “Super Bad” will be coming out soon and I’m super excited! Stay tuned for a lot more “get the face” with Adrienne Bailon…

Adrienne loves to play around and expirement with different makeup looks, so for this shoot we decided to play up the eyes with darker shadows and keep the lips light and matte. Here’s how I did it -

On skin, use Keihl’s Ultra Facial Moisturizer all over. Follow with Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Foundation. Set the makeup with a bit of loose powder by NARS. Use Stila Perfecting concealer under they eyes.

Brows are filled in with Lingering brow pencil by MAC and blended lightly with a Q-tip.

Eyes - I used Urban Decay Cream Eyeshadow in Whipped on the eyelids only. On the crease and outter corner of the eyes, use Walnut shadow by Smashbox and blend well. Line the upper lid with Smolder by MAC and smudge towards the outter corners. Use smolder again on the inner rim of the eyes, but starting at the center of the eye and going to the outter corner again. On the inner corners of the inner rim, use B-dazzle pencil by GIELLA. To smoke the eyes along the lower lash line, use Envy by Smashbox with a brush. Start with a little and build for more intensity. Blend it out to elongate the eyes. Finish with two coats of Loreal’s Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black.

Cheeks - To warm up her skin and contour, I used Casino bronzer by NARS all around the frame of the face and on the hollows of the cheeks. For blush, I applied Orgasm by NARS to the apples and blended out. For highlight, I brushed Rose Gold Illuminating finishing powder by STILA on the cheek bones and bridge of nose. I also put a dab of it right on the brow bone (under the brow).

Lips are lined with Subculture by MAC. I custom blended the lipstick myself at the GIELLA makeup counter at Henri Bendel and I named it “Bailon Besos.” Its very creamy and moisturizing! Comment or email me to find out how to get the lipstick.

I hope you all try this look out and please send me pics! xo - Mario

Get The Face! Adrienne Bailon on the set of Fabulous’ music video

I recently did Adrienne Bailon’s makeup for an appearance in Fabulous’ music video and used all NARS makeup to “get the face.” She was wearing a beautiful bright yellow dress so I went for a bronzed, sunkissed look with a smokey eye. I began working with Adrienne when she was a Cheetah Girl about a year and a half ago and she’s one of my favorites! She loves makeup!

GET THE FACE - All products by NARS

Skin - The new Firming Foundation all over skin and I set it with loose powder. I mixed the new Duo Concealer under her eyes and on eyelids only.

Eyes - Duo Eyeshadow in Scorching Sun. Use the golden color on the brow bone and the more orangy color all over the lid. In the crease I used Surabaya Duo Eyeshadow (the lighter shade in the crease and the darker blended on the outter corners) Also, use the darker shade to smoke on the lower lid. I lined the upper and inner lids with Blackmoon liner. The brows are filled in with the Jodhpur brow pencil. Several coats of the Black Orchid Mascara on top and bottom lashes.

Cheeks - To contour her face, I used the Casino bronzing powder. If you have lighter skin, try the Laguna color. For blush, I used Orgasm on the apples of the cheeks and to highlight, I blended The Multiple in Maldives on the cheek bones and alittle on the bridge of her nose.

Lips are lined with Bomeo lip pencil, followed by Barbarella lipstick and Orgasm lip gloss.

Try it out… its a good look for evening

Spotting Kim K: at ESPN Magazine's 6th Annual

Always one to keep an active calendar, Miss Kardashian kicked off her weekend by attending ESPN Magazine’s 6th Annual Pre-Draft Party.

Held at Espace in NYC, Miss Kardashian joined gal pal Adrienne Bailon at the football fete which drew out a gust list including Deion Sanders, Dwight Freeney, Fabolous, Fat Joe and Michael Strahan, among others.
