Makeup Mondays With Mario: Your Perfect Nude Lip

When choosing nude shades for your lips, you should keep a couple things in mind: light pinks look better on fare skin because they will most likely have too much white in them for darker complexions. Peachy/beige nudes look great on medium to darker skin tones because of the yellow pigments in them.

If your lips are naturally red or dark, pat some foundation on your lips first to block out the color so that the true lipstick shade shows. My fave nudes are Honolulu Honey Lipstick by NARS and Josie Maran Plumping Lip Gloss in Optimism.

"Kim and I like to decide together on the look that we're going for and on this day, we actually asked her fans on Twitter for their help in deciding on a make-up look. Kim Kardashian goes nude for Harper’s Bazaar

Kim Kardashian and other beautiful celebrities including Nicole Richie went nude on a recent photoshoot for Harper’s Bazaar. The shoot was shot by actress turned photographer Amanda de Cadenet and her pal Demi Moore was also present to give a helping hand. She described the shoot as “all nudes showing all types of bodies.”

Back from the Mutherland– I MISSED YOU GUYS!!

I can’t believe it. I’m back in LA, flew thru Customs (with 6 illegal electric mosquito swatters NOT confiscated), and my fingers twittering with excitement to tell you all about the last 2 weeks. With the sketchy internet..and ok, the fact that I leap outta bed in the AM to head out into the humid air and enjoy the city till wee hours into the night, there was never enough time to blog! So bear with me as I relive my favorite moments to catch you all up- starting with my Heartbeat Vietnam visits.

Two unforgettable visits took place within the first few days I got to Vietnam. I set out with the team of volunteer doctors and nurses to Khoa Nhi hospital that was about 2 hours outside of Ho Chi Minh. There I was able to actually see and meet the dozens of families who travel from all the surrounding small towns and provinces to get their children the medical attention made available on these two days. It was heartwrenching to see how many ways kids could be suffering with weak hearts. I’ve never really known many people with this condition, but after this particular day I could immediately see the physical signs of a child suffering from a congenital heart. Most were very thin and pale in complexion, and all had a frail, exhausted way about them. Here are a couple adorable boys who took a second to share some smiles with me.

Nicole Richie totes her favorite Balenciaga

For our first post back from covering the Oscar red carpet, let’s talk about a celeb whose dress at the Academy Awards was one of my favorites – Nicole Richie. Her Reem Acra gown was perhaps the most unexpectedly awesome outfit of the entire red carpet, and she really chose something that stood out and fit her personal style to a T. Who would have thought back during her days on The Simple Life that she would grow up to be such a fashionphile?

I certainly wouldn’t have guessed it, but I’m happy that she made it to the other side. She seems to have a confident sense of what she likes and what she doesn’t, and she definitely loves the Balenciaga City Bag that we see her carrying around quite a bit. In fact, she seems to like Balenciaga as a whole, and that’s a style statement with which I’ll never argue. I hope we get to see her on more serious red carpets in the future, but for now, these pics of her day-to-day style will have to do.

'Sex and the City 2' poster: Sarah Jessica Parker looks better than ever - maybe a little too good

The movie may be six months away, but producers have already released a sneak peak poster for "Sex & the City 2." And - surprise! - it's all about the outfit.

Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays the fashionable Carrie Bradshaw in the series, wears a $525 Halston Heritage dress, gold Mykita & Bernard Willhelm's Franz Limited-Edition aviator sunglasses and a sparkly necklace by Solange Azagury-Patridge. As could be expected, she sports a pair of killer heels by Christian Louboutin that cost about $3,200, reports the U.K.'s Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, critics have noted that Parker's likeness in the poster doesn't match her looks in real life. In the image of the skinny star, she appears to have an enhanced top half and smoother, younger-looking skin, notes the Daily Mail.

Though there have been few details released about the plot of the second film, the cast was spotted shooting in Morocco in October. Kim Cattrall's cougar character, Samantha, is thought to settle down a bit, as she's been spotted wearing a wedding dress on set in NYC. Teen queen Miley Cyrus also makes a brief appearance alongside Cattrall — both of them wearing the same outfit.

The return of Jason Lewis, who played Samantha's rare serious beau, Smith Jerrod, in the series, has also been confirmed. Both Miranda and Charlotte's husbands, Steve Brady (played by David Eigenberg) and Harry Goldenblatt (Evan Handler) have also signed on for the sequel.

Another rumored plotline involves Carrie's rocky marriage to Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth. According to Britain's Daily Mail, Carrie and Big may adopt, since several British stars, including Victoria Beckham and Katie Price, have reportedly auditioned for the role of an English nanny.

"Sex and the City 2" is currently set for release on May 28, 2010, nationwide.

Flashback: August 17, 2007 – Kim Kardashian @ Edison Bar

In August 2007, after 2½ years in the magazine world, I was gaining a reputation for photographing beautiful women. And that year, there was no one with more beauty and buzz than Kim Kardashian.

When I teamed up with the short-lived Coexistence magazine, whose goal it was to introduce notable personalities of Middle Eastern descent to the mainstream public, Kim was at the top of their wishlist. She was the entertainment industry’s “It-girl.” Through a friend of a friend, I managed to get in touch with Kim’s people, and once I had the greenlight, my mind started racing. I wanted to take her to the desert (surprise!), but her publicist told me it wasn’t happening. Too far, too dirty. Make it local and convenient, I was instructed.

I love contrasting beautiful women with dirty, busted environments, something I did in that same Coexistence issue with my Skid Row Princess fashion spread. I’ve always been secretly envious of photographers who live near desolate, forgotten areas because there are so many old and crappy buildings and environments to place your model. In Los Angeles, everything is, well, new and crappy. We finally settled on The Edison bar in Downtown LA, which was formerly a power-plant in the old Higgins building, built in 1910. Nearly 100 years old, and totally awesome.

I did a ton of prep for this shoot, pulling tear sheets, shooting backplates, and storyboarding. I was ready to pitch a hard sell, because at that point, Kim didn’t have a clue who I was, and it was clear that her publicist didn’t like me or the magazine very much.

But when it came right down to it, Kim was suprisingly easy to work with—she was even down with all of my poses, as I had her crawl on cold metal boilers and arch her back on cast-iron stoves. No drama whatsoever—she was a total sweetheart.

Since this was back before I started hiring behind-the-scenes photographers, I managed to pull the next best thing: lighting and exposure tests with my assistants from the shoot, Corey and Zak (known affectionately as “the goons”…note the excited look on their faces). The Edison had lots of moody practical lighting that the cinematographer in me went crazy for, but alas, none of it was gonna show up at 100 ISO. So I took long-exposure plate shots to allow the practicals to burn in and gauge the actual color temperature, then I gelled my strobes and lit Kim properly, effectively letting the background go F* itself. Finally, I blended the two shots in post…sort of a ghetto HDR.

When the mag was released in December 2007, some people commented that these shots looked overly retouched. But the truth is that the cell-shading look on her skin is more a result of heavy bronzer (make-up) combined with the oversaturation of my gelled lights. In hindsight, I should have shot her naturally (non-gelled strobes) to preserve the white highlights, and then warmed her mids and shadows in post. All in all, I still love this shoot. Due to positive female customer feedback, it headlined the Slickforce.com website longer than any shoot I’ve ever done.

Even better, Kim and I kept in touch after the shoot, and I’ve now shot the entire Kardashian family several times over. When she went blonde in summer ‘09, she called me to capture it before she went back to classic brunette. Kim later leaked a photo from that shoot on her blog, which resulted in my first call from TMZ—hilarious. I’ll post more info on that shoot soon.

Kim’s photographer Nick Saglimbeni got in touch and sent me these awesome behind-the-scenes photos from Kim’s 2011 calendar shoot. They’re beautiful! I bet the calendar is going to turn out amazing.

As previously mentioned on the site, Kim also did a blonde shoot with Nick but being the mogul that she is – she decided to do a brunette one too! This shoot took place at his studio in late January.

"It goes without saying that Kim Kardashian is one of my favorite clients. So when she contacted me to shoot not one, but both of her 2011 calendars, it didn’t take much convincing. Now, why would anyone need two calendars, you may ask? Good question.

Kim made waves on the gossip circuit when she went renegade last summer, tossing aside her classically perfect brunette hair and swapping it for a blonde look. When fans cried for the return of natural Kim, she called me. “I have to go back to brunette for the show,” she said, “but I want you to capture the blonde before I change it back!”

Deal. So two days after returning from a shoot in Italy, I got Kim in my studio and we shot her 2011 calendar. You can read her words on the shoot here. Later, when I sent her the final images, she had a brilliant idea: “Let’s do TWO calendars! One blonde, one brunette!” And that, my friends, is why the woman is a mogul. She can sell anything.

Shoot #2 was scheduled in late January. And finally, on our fifth shoot together, I successfully convinced her to let me bring in a behind-the-scenes crew (you gotta understand, this girl has cameras following her everywhere…) This shoot was incredibly relaxed, as her crew and I have now worked together several times. We’ve learned to play off each others strengths, as any good team does, and Kim really has fantastic people on her team. Mario Dedivanovic’s make-up is flawless, Frankie Payne nails my favorite windblown look every time, and Monica Rose’s styling is always mind-blowing.

March 9, 2010: Kim Kardashian is caught by the paparazzi doing some shopping with her friend Carla on Robertson Blvd yesterday. They stopped by Intermix and Kim was at one point seen checking out some cute items including earrings.

My FHM Australia and New Zealand cover just hit the news stands this week! I'm always surprised when I see myself on the covers of international magazines. First my South America FHM cover and now this! Thank you guys everywhere for your support. Are there any people in Australia or New Zealand reading this??
